Love transcends all boundaries.
It knows no gender, it welcomes freely,
It finds safety in one another,
And acceptance like none other.
A Joyful Start
It is a very special occasion when Ammata Eyes first met Jason and Ryan’s request. The interracial couple were both doctors—one from Malaysia and the other from Australia. As Ammata Eyes had roots in Malaysia as well, this was an intimate and joyous opportunity to photograph their unique wedding.
The day started with everyone getting ready in the room together. Jason had chosen fun socks as a surprise for his husband’s wedding day, adding playful colors to their blue matrimonial suits. The two shared an intimate moment preparing each other, taking in deep breaths to walk down the aisle. Looking into each other’s eyes, it was clear that they had gone through many trials to be here today.
Ammata Eyes decided to do what they always do – silent observers behind the scenes to capture candid moments. This allowed the families and friends who flew all around the world to Rosewood Hotel for the Phuket Wedding to experience this tender moment with Jason and Ryan.
A Celebration of Love and Family
Coming from an Asian family, Jason’s story was particularly moving. It was heartwarming to see the support he received from his family, who welcomed Ryan with open arms. Jason’s mother proudly walked him down the aisle, while Ryan’s mother did the same for her son—a beautiful subversion of tradition that symbolized the breaking of norms and the power of acceptance. The exchange of vows and rings brought tears and smiles to the faces of their guests, each word a promise of love and commitment.
An Evening of Pure Joy
Before the reception, Jason and Ryan took a moment to stroll through the venue, ensuring that every detail was just right. This space, which would soon be filled with their favorite people, was the backdrop for a night they would never forget. And if we’re honest—gay weddings are truly the best.
A Love That Knows No Limits
For Ammata’s Eyes, photographing Jason and Ryan’s wedding was more than just a job—it was an experience filled with warmth and genuine joy. Their wedding may have been different from the traditional, but their love shone through every photograph.
These images tell a story of love that is bountiful and brave, a love that knows no color or gender, and a love that stands by each other no matter the challenges. And as Jason and Ryan embark on this new chapter, surrounded by the love of family and friends, their wedding day will remain a beautiful reminder of the power of love to overcome, to accept, and to endure.
